As technology advances, and a number of digital devices that can facilitate the workflow of production companies are implemented in day-to-day operations, the need for competence development and know-how to achieve the full potential for innovation and growth, increases.
The research project Innovation Factory North (IFN), studies how to help small and medium-sized businesses develop a smarter production. IFN aims to map, test, develop skills and implement a number of the many industry 4.0 technologies available.
The AAU Smart Production Lab at the Department of Materials and Production created the main stage for the IFN mini exhibition, where 150 participants from both Danish and international industrial companies were invited to experience new digital production solutions and be inspired by some of the biggest international players in industrial development.
"We are very proud that our research in smart production is generating international interest from key players in industrial development such as Daimler, Fraunhofer and Arene2036, who also visit our IFN mini exhibition.” tells Professor Ole Madsen from the Department of Materials and Production, Aalborg University.
At the exhibition, there were demonstrations of i.a. new robotic solutions, IoT solutions, digital twins, sensor technology, etc. All of this could be experienced in the AAU Smart Production Lab, which is the daily arena for the small Industry 4.0 factory, which makes it possible to work with an integrated approach to automation, digitization and new forms of collaboration.
"We are proud of the interest and curiosity that our research in Smart Production creates. Our unique facilities allow us to develop, test and test technologies across the university and industry. Our ambition is to become a unifying hub for the development and application of 4.0 technology in Northern Jutland.” says associate professor and project manager, Astrid Heidemann Lassen from the Department of Materials and Production at Aalborg University.
